Un jour très triste...

--- Harry Potter Spoilers ----- --- Harry Potter Spoilers -----

I have been completely preoccupied with Harry Potter over the past couple of weeks. The week prior to the release of book 6 I realized that I couldn't remember how the almost 900 page book 5 ended so I decided to reread it. It was a great idea, I just wish I had thought of it sooner because I spent the last week walking around plugging my ears and humming so I wouldn't over hear any conversations about how book 6 ends. All I knew was that everyone who had finished book 6 was very depressed and now I know why.

How could she go and kill Dumbledore like that? And by the Evil-Creepy-Greasy Snape? Talk about a bang for your buck.

Once I got over my initial shock and I really thought about where JK was taking this book to prepare for the ending I came to the conclusion that Harry needs to defeat his mortal enemy on his own - without the knowledge that a higher power can come in and help him. I am sure that Dumbledore will reappear in some form or another in book 6. My theory is that he is still alive and that he and Snape devised this elaborate plan to position Snape even closer to Voldemort - but as my wise older brother advised me last night when I was coming up with all of my theories on how it was going to end, I shouldn't think too much about it - the book is written for a young audience that doesn't require a really complicated plot - it is what it is.

My theory on Snape and Dumbledore did help me finally fall asleep last night though....

I disagree with your brother. I think it's very complicated and intricate- I know a lot of grownups who sit around and talk about it!

And I agree with your theory.

I disagree with your brother as well. Initaially I would have, but book three started getting thing deeper and deeper that I almost dont even think it is a children's book at all anymore.

I saw this post with the spoiler warning a while back, but i JUST finished the book, so I had to come back and read! I'm SO glad you put the spoiler warning. I would have been so disappointed if someone had ruined the surprise.

I totally agree with you that he can't rely on a higher power, which is why Dumbledore died, but I'm not sure if he will come back. I can't decide what I think will happen.
