Last weekend was probably one of the best weekends I have had in quite some time. I went to Portland, Oregon to visit my old room-mate and dear friend, Danelli (names have been changed to protect the innocent) Dannelli has been married for a couple of years and just this last year she and her husband bought a beautiful home and she quit her job to become a kept woman complete with a gorgeous 3 carat diamond ring. It is quite the arrangement – it’s nice to see people you love in situations like these when you know that they are genuinely in a loving relationship and financially in a good enough spot to be out of debt.
Over the past year as a kept woman, Danelli has taken on a rigorous workout regimen and has become addicted to the food network and I LOVE this addiction of hers! When we were room mates she kind of cooked but not really – I think she wanted to but didn’t really have the time or money to invest in really getting into it. Now she is just an amazing cook. We basically went from meal to meal watching Gilmore Girls or the food network in between. She knows the story of all of the people who have shows on the food network and considers them friends. We even had to go and see Elizabeth Town because Paula who specializes in southern home cooking is in the movie. I would sleep late and when I got up I would make my way to the comfy leather sofa and she would bring me breakfast. At night when I went up upstairs for bed she would come up with a beautiful tea set with comfy time tea and honey. I was very pampered.
Saturday we went for Pedicures at a place where we were by far the oldest patrons – it was homecoming at the local high school and all of the girls had come in to ready themselves for the dance. Despite feeling very old and very glad that we were not still in high school, we were very entertained. It was fun to sit back and see who the snobby girls were and who they were talking about – they even took a stab at us when we came in but Dannelli and I just mimicked them by leaning toward each other covering our mouths while we talked to each other while looking at them – that really wound them up and really all we were talking about was how hot the water was our feet were soaking in.
I came home completely relaxed and feeling like I might have a chance keeping up with the week of work ahead.
It is now the Saturday after this work week and I have to say that I wish I were in Portland right now eating yummy food and watching the food network.

I want to see the baby! What kind of dog is it? We are not doing well on lunch. You may just have to come for dinner.....and bring Tootsie.
Also you have to go the www.cjanerun.blogspot.com. It is so funny. She lives in Provo but I dig her style. Check it out!
