Ma visite à Mecque (My visit to Mecca)

My meeting Wednesday lasted all of about an hour and a half. While it really was nice to meet my clients face to face... flying to Minnesota for a 90 meeting? Fortunately this trip allowed me to visit my mother land... Sephora... there is a big part of me that would love to have a Sephora right her in Salt Lake, but that other part of me, the fiscally responsible side of me knows that this would not be a good thing. Luckily for me there are Sephoras located in most of the major cities that I do visit so I am able to get in touch with my roots every so often.

I love the BeneFit brand. I have not found a place in Salt Lake where I can find a BenFit counter and it’s not as fun to buy make-up on line so I go a little crazy when I find a Sephora. This trip was long over due so while my purchases may seem a bit extreme each item will be well used and my morning makeup routine will be a bit happier.

There was a BeneFit representative at the store while I was there so I had lots of help filling up my basket.

The first thing this cute little girl noticed on me were my horrible brows. She was very polite about it telling me I had a beautiful brow line, but I knew what she was thinking inside, “does this girl ever tweeze?” She used brow Zings on my brows and was actually able to make them look like nice. (I have since tweezed by the way so don’t be looking for my ‘old man’ brows the next time you see me) I loved the effect so of course I had to have it.

To further enhance my brow/eye area she also used High Beam – I was a little concerned when she first put it on – it was like she was using a white crayon and coloring the area just under my brow – she told me it would make my eyes ‘POP’ – I told her I thought that was a great idea as long as she didn’t make me look the new and “improved” Kenny Rogers. Once she blended the crayon mark in the effect was very nice so I tossed one in my basket.

I told her one of my biggest make-up related frustration was the crease I get on my eye lid half way through the day from my shadow. She recommended F.Y….eye! as a shadow base. I purchased some of this as well but the jury is still out on how well it works.

One of my favorite BenFit purchases from years ago was the dandelion highlighting powder.

I LOVED this stuff and even more I loved that it lasted forever. I have since run out of Dandelion and needed some more highlighting powder and as it is summer I had the make-up girl (or the devil with makeup brushes and glossed lips) show me what bronzers BeneFit offered. There were two to choose from, Hoola, which is a very mild and subtle bronzer and Dallas, a bolder bronzer with a bit of a sparkle. I told the cute little devil that I was little old for anything with a sparkle and she immediately told me that sparkle is OK for everyone and that that until I was 30 I could wear as much sparkle as I wanted. I kind of laughed and she said, “well you have a couple more years before then” I laughed even harder and told her that I loved her and tossed the Dallas bronzing power in my basket. This little devil knows exactly what she is doing.

A girl can always use another tube of lip gloss so I picked up a tube of Sephora brand Super Shimmer Lip gloss in Sweet Caramel (I can wear shimmer for a few more years you know…).

I had to have one of these just because it was very cool.

And I am always loosing my sharpeners so I picked up one of these.

I also needed a new fragrance for summer. There are dozens to choose from but I finally found a light, summery and yummy scent by Philosophy - 'Falling in Love.' Here's hoping....

The same trip that I discovered the Dandelion hightlighting power I also discovered the Bathina Body Balm.

I would use this in the summer on my legs when I wore skirts or crop pants. I made your legs so soft and look so nice. For summer I decided to go with the Hollywood glo.
