Memorial Day

I have abandoned the idea of trying to catch up on all of the fabulous posts I have in the queue and will jump in on the Memorial Day entry. Here we are at Provo City Cemetery where you can find us the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend every year. We even have the same flowers - no surprises from the Carter's. The only thing that will change is the color of the Roses on Grammie's headstone - Dad usually gets pretty pink roses but this year the closest he could find was peach and they were just as pretty. We always have the same bushel of daisies on Mom's headstone. I am usually in charge of arranging but this year I dilly dallied around the house before leaving for the Cemetery and was very late so Michelle had to jump in and she did just great!

We also hit the cemetery where Grandpa Hill is buried where there is a beautiful view of Utah County - I think it is the East Lawn Cemetery but don't quote me.

After the flower festivities we headed back to Kevin and Michelle's for Dinner - Michelle made yummy French dip sandwiches. Hockey guy joined us with his crew and he made some yummy chocolate chip cookies (that he still has not shared the recipe for...).

It was a nice day (despite the constant reminder that a few members of the group had beans the night before)- we remembered loved ones who left us long ago and enjoyed the company of friends and family we are lucky enough to have in our lives now.

I will be posting about some of the 'funness' I had in May - including the Blog party where I met some of my favorite bloggers!

I love what you said about remembering those who have left us while enjoying those in our lives today...You are so optimistic and positive about life. What a great example you are!
(I love seeing a picture of your family! It's been so long since I've seen any of them. Maybe we should have a "bring a family member" to one of our Christmas parties!)

You are correct. I haven't posted that recipe yet. It's on my list. Just keep reminding me.
