December 3 was the day of the big event. For some reason I feel the need to create my own inviations for any event I am hosting. This only poses a problem when the guest list passes 25 or 30. I kept them very simple and was sure to have them in the mail about 2 weeks ahead of time so my guests would have plenty of time to find the perfect cookie recipe.
It was fun to have the house all ready for the holidays so early in the season. By December 3, the tree was up, the lights were on the house and there were dozens of yummy cookies! I invited 12 people, had 8 RSVP and 7 actually show up. If I do this again, I will go for it and invite more people knowing that not everybody will be as excited as me to bake 7 dozen cookies. As I had asked my guests to make such a commitment before coming to my party I was sure to reward them with yummy appetizers and wassail.
I found a recipe in one of my MS Living mags that was a ton of work but ended up being so yummy. For the life of me I can't remember what they are called but I will post the recipe at a later date. This was my first attempt at working with Filo dough and it just may be my last. Of course, it was 1:00 AM by the time I started making these and the analytical skills involved to figure out that I needed the dough to thaw prior to working with it had gone to bed around midnight so I am sure the frustration with the Filo dough was self induced. They were very, very good and I will probably make them again at some point. I also made Sundried tomato palmieres. These were super easy and super yummy. You use the crescent roll dough (from your grocer’s freezer), sun-dried tomato past and ricotta cheese. I served my famous orange rolls and Costco’s famous mini-quiches.

Middle aged white male, the most oppressed class of human on the planet ;)
And Asians, don't forget Asians.
