Over all I would have to say that 2007 was a good year -- it was the year that I realized one of my biggest dreams/goals - that being becoming a home owner. I am so grateful and blessed to be able to be in a place in my life that allows me to be able to afford this luxury. Many sacrifices will be made now that I have such a significant financial obligation but it is SO worth being able to create my little home.
Looking back at the year there are a few things that stick out that were lots of fun - I went to Las Vegas last January with my good friends Lara and Andrea for a fun filled weekend of shopping and Justin Timberlake watching (and just so you know, he did bring sexy back).
Over Easter weekend I went to New York with some other good friends for more fun filled shopping (gotta love canal street and Kate's Paperie) and to see some AWESOME shows. Some great memories were made with some great girls - the kind of girls you want to be like when you grow up - the kind of girls who leave you better than when they found you.
I spent some time in Portland with Danel and her sweet baby Sophie. Visiting Danel is like staying in a Bed and Breakfast when you are the only patron - she completely pampers you and cooks the YUMMIEST food. I can't wait to visit her over my birthday this year.
There was some sadness this year as well - One of my parents dearest friends, Evan, was diagnosed with cancer in March and passed away in August. I have many fond memories driving to Provo for BYU games holding on for dear life while Evan sped through traffic. More recently over the past few years it has been nice to get to know Evan better as I traveled to Houston to visit his wife Joan. I am so grateful for that time I was able to spend with him these last few years. My brother and I made the trip to Houston to attend his funeral and I am so glad that we did. We grew up with his kids and I share such a fun friendship with Joan, his wife - I am Thankful I was able to be there in person to share my love with the family and say my goodbyes.
There were some new discoveries this year - while I have had a blog for awhile and an on-line journal prior to the 'blog-movement' it wasn't until this last year that I really discovered how big this blog world really is. There are so many blogs that I have come across that have sparked so much of my creative zeal and inspire me in so many ways. Some of my favorite discoveries are when pictures of the bloggers studios are included. I love to see how they have organized and decorated their spaces. It has been so fun to reach out and invite myself into the worlds of these new friends. I am excited to expand my blogging horizons this year by including more of my own creations.
I want to use my blog this year to track the progress of my life – set goals and document the journey I take to see them through. I always have such great plans, some of which I bring to life but far too many lay dormant until I get my life organized enough start the creative process. This leads me to what I want my new year to be centered around – my next entry I will elaborate on my plans for 2008…
Stay tuned…
