I awoke Wednesday morning at the delicious hour 9:30 a.m. (I purposely scheduled my flight at 12:30 so I wouldn't have to get up early on the first day of my vacation). I made my way down Bangerter, found a spot in long term parking and jumped on the bus to the terminal - I was the only passenger which meant that I didn't have to maneuver my big ole suitcase around anyone else (I am not very graceful you see...). I checked my big ole suitcase and made my way through security and after I put my shoes back on and collected my bag I was officially on vacation. I was ready. I was relaxed. I was on vacation. I didn't even care that my flight was 25 minutes delayed.
I flew Southwest this trip which I haven't done in ages - I am all about the miles, you know, and usually only fly Delta - usually the fact that I don't have an assigned seat would annoy me but, alas, I was on vacation so I didn't really care. I found a window seat and settled in with my travel pillow, i-pod and the January issue of O Magazine. I read, I napped, I listened to my favorite tunes and then we touched down in Portland.
It was so fun to see Danelli and Sophie pull up in their Ford 150 because I knew that once I climbed in I would be completely taken care of and pampered all weekend long.
We ran some errands and then went to the Claim Jumper for Dinner. I haven't been to a Claim Jumper in 14 years. I figured out that the last time I went to a claim jumper was with Paul on my birthday when I was living in L.A. - it was every bit as yummy and huge as I remembered.
We made our way home, put Sophie to bed and then watched the Real Housewives of New York City and would pause it when we needed to add some color commentary. Dani went to bed and I stayed up sitting in my bed in the guest room adorned with Fresh Tulips and finished off my O magazine (I haven't read and entire magazine, cover to cover, since probably August.
Stay tuned for Day II at Chez Danelli where we will visit a Tulip farm.
