Last May I attended a Book Binding class taught by Amy of Inside the Fishbowl fame. I urge you to read her blog and if you see that she is offering another class you must jump at the chance. Not only is Amy completely delightful she is an excellent teacher and truly loves this craft.
She taught us two different bindings - Ribbon binding and Case binding. You leave the class with two completed books - mine are below:

I don't think I have ever been so proud of myself! Perhaps the day I learned how to line up my seams while piecing (thanks Joan!). Can you believe I made these? I certainly can't - I just loved every minute of it and cannot thank Amy enough teaching me.
So, now it is August and my friend, Jennifer-June, is throwing a Bridal Shower for her cousin. For one of the games she is going to give each guest a piece of white paper and have them tear out the shape of a wedding dress and then write down a piece of advice on the dress. She wanted to have some sort of a book to put the dresses in that her cousin could take home. I offered (opened my big mouth) to help her make a book with my newly acquired book binding skills.
The pressure was on - I had to figure out how to do this on my own - luckily Amy supplied very clearly written instructions and I was able to fumble my way through the steps.

Of course, I can look at the finished product and see all of the flaws but overall I believe it turned out really nice.
Seriously, you need to take her class - I may even take it again!

Your books look great! I went to one of Amy's classes last November and was impressed with her great organization skills and instructions.
Ok, you're going about this 'publishing' thing backwards ;)
You have to write the book first, 'then' you bind it ;)
OK, seriously. You have got to stop it with the talent. I'm not kidding, it makes the rest of us feel like losers...oh wait, it's my kids that tell me I'm a loser.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for helping me with the book (actually, for doing the whole thing for me!) I love it and know Whit will too. Thank you even more for watching the kids! You are the best friend a girl could ask for. I don't deserve you.
Hi!
I don't know if you'll remember me. I used to hang out at your BYU treehouse apartment with Jen. I'm glad I found your blog! So cute and crafty as ever!
Heather
